          Are You Complete?

If your life ended today, would you be able to say, “I am complete?” If you answered yes, congratulations—you’ve mastered this life. If you answered no, then let’s talk for just a few minutes.

If you took a moment to think about what it would take to make your life feel complete, what would you come up with? You see, many good-hearted people don’t feel their life is complete but they never take the time to identify exactly what they need to do about it. If you don’t take the time to truly identify what you need to do to make your life complete, it will never happen for you.

In order to facilitate the process, try this simple exercise:

1. What would make your life complete? Write out exactly what your life would have to look like for it to be complete. The more exact you are in this step, the better the clarity will be. Don’t be concerned with whether it’s possible or not. Just write it out.
2. What could you do starting today to make these things happen? Decide you’re going to do them. And then, regardless of your resources (or lack thereof), there is always something you can do to progress toward your complete life. Don’t allow yourself to be fooled into thinking you can’t do anything until everything is in place. The key to a complete life is to get moving toward what you want and the “how” will be created along the way.
3. Are you willing to do at least one thing daily to create a completed life? This is the step that trips most people up. You see, most people want something different and probably know at least some things to do that would create it, but avoid doing these things. The reasons for not doing what’s necessary to create a completed life are too vast for this writing but know one thing for sure—It Can Happen For You—if you let it.

The only obstacle in the way to a more complete life for most people is themselves. If we make a decision on what we want and start progressing gradually toward that desire, we always get it or get something better.

Many clients come to me with desires of a better life but are waiting for the pieces to fall into place for them. These sound-minded people actually believe they will get going toward their dreams when the timing is right; the money is right; the feeling is right; or something else is right. What most people don’t understand is that the only way these circumstances become right is by taking action (Do It Now!) and Keep Going regardless of any apparent obstacles. When a person continues without wavering toward any destination (or desire) in life, he or she will always arrive exactly at the desired point.

Sue was an intelligent, hard working person who wanted to change many things in her life. She told me, “If these things were improved, my life would be improved.”

As with many clients, I asked Sue, “How long have you wanted these improvements?” Sue answered, “All my life.” Next, I asked this intelligent person, “Why are you waiting to create them?” Sue gave an embarrassing chuckle and then started to explain all the “reasons” for waiting.

I had to politely interrupt her roll of excuses and declare, “Sue, when you’re ready for these things to be in your life, they will start to manifest.” Sue said, “Oh you mean like magic or something.” I began to laugh and said, “No, it isn’t magic, it’s simply a logical process of building. Just as you build anything one step at a time. You too can build a complete life one step at a time. The key is to identify what you want; what is necessary to make it happen; and get moving in that direction right away. Don’t wait for things to be right. Instead, make them right.”

After Sue started applying the simple exercise I shared with you today, she accomplished every single desire in less than two years. Sue went from waiting a lifetime for many of these things, to creating it within two years time.

Isn’t it amazing what occurs when we become active participants rather than passive observers in our lives? What are you creating? Is your life complete? Why don’t you take another five minutes to complete this week’s exercise and see what happens with your life? After all, you’re definitely worth it!
